Well, the truth is, I have decided to add yet another blog to my busy schedule. It's construction and projects needed have taken up a lot of time! Not to worry, Get Craftlicious will still be a part of your lives!<br />
<br />
This new blog is called <a href="http://www.thingswefancy.blogspot.com/"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f1c232;">Things We Fancy</span></a>. It started with one of my BFFF's Hillary from<span class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f1c232;"> </span><a href="http://www.itsprettymagical.blogspot.com/" style="color: #f1c232;">it's pretty magical</a>. As all great ideas come about, we were just hanging around (probably watching Dexter) and laughing up a storm. We decided to dedicate this blog to be about the things that we absolutely love! Hillary and I have similar taste in Home Decor, Fashion, and we both have a background in Cosmetology. Posts will include DIY Projects, Home Decor tips and ideas, Fashion, Hair and Beauty, and much much more!</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span"><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span">Do yourself (and me) a favor and start following it like NOW! We have a great line up and can't wait to show it to the blogosphere!</span><br />

"Word" has pins of quotes that I come across and basically love. I am also a diehard Apple lover... Honestly, I don't even know what I was doing with my life before I owned a Mac device. Okay, maybe not that dramatic, but it's made a huge impact on me.<br />
For those who aren't familiar with Apple, it's former CEO Steve Jobs recently passed away. It was sad to see him go, especially with him being such an icon and visionary. I came across this quote a while ago, and it really struck a chord with me. I know this post is totally random, and the only crafting involved was the use of Photoshop. I just wanted to share this. I hope you like it as much as I do.<br />

Creating new things brings a sense of satisfaction that I've never known before. It is my passion. I hope that everyone will seize their opportunity to do what they truly love and never settle for less.</div>Get Craftlicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14042786887759505203noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3237359896128751834.post-47813533414352844392011-10-08T10:52:00.000-07:002011-10-09T11:19:06.298-07:00Oh Martha, you slay me.So, remember how I told you to be jealous of my new Martha Stewart multi-surface craft paints and stencils? Well, I have been using it like CA-RAZY! Seriously, it's for sure a top 5 fave. Wanna know what else? It paints like a dream on fabric. My latest project consisted of the painting of some burlap and using it as a backdrop for a picture frame.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xvq1Yp8PnxY/TpCK5Mh8zoI/AAAAAAAAAQ4/h0cQo14FvHI/s1600/grayframe1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xvq1Yp8PnxY/TpCK5Mh8zoI/AAAAAAAAAQ4/h0cQo14FvHI/s640/grayframe1.jpg" width="478" /></a></div><br />
<br />
It doesn't take a genius to figure out how to use it. You simply lay down your fabric (I had to iron my burlap cause it was all wrinkly) place the stencil of choice over it, and paint away.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Yg2mitaQeoE/TpCKJFpiyBI/AAAAAAAAAQw/CaEXB3h_n4w/s1600/IMG_1063.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Yg2mitaQeoE/TpCKJFpiyBI/AAAAAAAAAQw/CaEXB3h_n4w/s400/IMG_1063.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I recommend using a regular paint brush... the sponge ones don't work. Trust me.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FRNhZ_XaH40/TpCKfA7JZ9I/AAAAAAAAAQ0/GAHDBdIJrEo/s1600/graypaint.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FRNhZ_XaH40/TpCKfA7JZ9I/AAAAAAAAAQ0/GAHDBdIJrEo/s640/graypaint.jpg" width="409" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The color I used was "Wet Cement".... so flippin' dreamy.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RJ901zgNpHw/TpCLQ-j_A_I/AAAAAAAAAQ8/VMCfHuhQ9xg/s1600/grayframe2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RJ901zgNpHw/TpCLQ-j_A_I/AAAAAAAAAQ8/VMCfHuhQ9xg/s640/grayframe2.jpg" width="518" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9WxIu9lHc-g/TpCLU76VpcI/AAAAAAAAARA/o2vuQzTonG8/s1600/grayframe3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9WxIu9lHc-g/TpCLU76VpcI/AAAAAAAAARA/o2vuQzTonG8/s640/grayframe3.jpg" width="478" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Do you LOVE it? I sure do. The burlap gives it amazing texture and I get that pop of grey that matches my bedding. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">One of the best and easiest ways to add some color to your picture frame collage, is to use a large frame with a smaller picture and place patterned fabric or scrapbook paper behind it. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">For my smaller side project, I decided to make my storage a little prettier. Basically, no matter how I try to keep my toiletries (deodorant, perfume, lotions, etc.) in the bathroom, they always inevitably end up in our bedroom. It drives my husband crazy because I leave them everywhere. I didn't want to get tupperware storage, especially cause I don't want to pay for it. So, I improvised and grabbed some shoe boxes, and covered the outside in scrapbook paper. It's organized, and my husband is happy. ;)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vvdi_5QskLk/TpCMsmhYzAI/AAAAAAAAARE/QyjqLotBbWU/s1600/storagebox1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vvdi_5QskLk/TpCMsmhYzAI/AAAAAAAAARE/QyjqLotBbWU/s400/storagebox1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SMQi6FURxK0/TpCMvtmHsmI/AAAAAAAAARI/3tNf-jsuIxk/s1600/storagebox2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="302" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SMQi6FURxK0/TpCMvtmHsmI/AAAAAAAAARI/3tNf-jsuIxk/s400/storagebox2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I, on the other hand, am freaking stoked because I just picked up the new Martha Stewart multi-surface acrylic craft paints and a stencil kit! I'm super excited to start making some craftliciousness with this stuff.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LKUIFXwhnEc/TnwSqhgh6nI/AAAAAAAAAQk/Vx5gsYpLtps/s1600/IMG_1041.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LKUIFXwhnEc/TnwSqhgh6nI/AAAAAAAAAQk/Vx5gsYpLtps/s320/IMG_1041.jpg" width="239" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_Y6k4-1UCPw/TnwS1dAVeAI/AAAAAAAAAQo/Te9SGcgLpAU/s1600/paints.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="268" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_Y6k4-1UCPw/TnwS1dAVeAI/AAAAAAAAAQo/Te9SGcgLpAU/s400/paints.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Yep, it's gonna be awesome. How has everyone's week been thus far? Have you crafted anything amazing, or at least contemplated making a craft? I've been pretty low on inspiration lately, but good ole' Martha Stewart gave me a nice pick-me-up. (Not that kind of pick-me-up you weirdos!)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>Get Craftlicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14042786887759505203noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3237359896128751834.post-68028796045366256772011-09-20T17:26:00.000-07:002011-10-09T11:35:52.049-07:00Spooky BooksAlright, here is just ONE of the Halloween Decor Tutorials! They are spooky books and they're super awesome. Just a forewarning, as much as I LOVE the really cutesy Halloween decorations, I like my house to look like a Haunted Mansion for Halloween time. Therefore, my decor is kinda creepy... don't worry though, my next Halloween Tutorial does include glitter. =)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4-LhQMtBpvI/TnkoM91Sj2I/AAAAAAAAAQA/_kGIcG_x0ew/s1600/books2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4-LhQMtBpvI/TnkoM91Sj2I/AAAAAAAAAQA/_kGIcG_x0ew/s400/books2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Alright, your supplies need are:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">-4 old books that you don't mind trashing</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">-black craft paint</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">-hot glue gun</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">-assorted paint colors in your choice for lettering</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">-sponge paint brushes</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">First, squirt some black craft paint in a bowl and paint it over the covers of books (if needed) and over the spines.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ewSxJNjyRQM/TnkpIikovsI/AAAAAAAAAQE/OWiNyopeYy4/s1600/IMG_1021.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ewSxJNjyRQM/TnkpIikovsI/AAAAAAAAAQE/OWiNyopeYy4/s400/IMG_1021.jpg" width="298" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XoQKAwLKQZ8/TnkpNmCY6vI/AAAAAAAAAQI/Pmazj-Wbne4/s1600/IMG_1019.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XoQKAwLKQZ8/TnkpNmCY6vI/AAAAAAAAAQI/Pmazj-Wbne4/s400/IMG_1019.jpg" width="298" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Set them outside in the sun to dry. Good news about craft paint is, it dries super fast.... especially if you live in the desert like myself. After they're nice and toasty, bust out your hot glue gun and write the words along the spines. I chose mine to say "Spells", "Brews", "Curses", and "Potions". Be prepared, this part can get pretty messy.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cNh_3zbjrew/TnkqAHfRlsI/AAAAAAAAAQM/LxiYqM39EWs/s1600/IMG_1022.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cNh_3zbjrew/TnkqAHfRlsI/AAAAAAAAAQM/LxiYqM39EWs/s400/IMG_1022.jpg" width="298" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Once the hot glue has dried and hardened, go over the letters with your choice of color paint. After you've completed this step, you can be finished. I however, decided to go one step further and make them look a little more aged. All you do is dip your sponge brush in black paint, and dab most of it off with a paper towel. Then, stipple over the letters very lightly... this will make it look dirty. (Cause let's be real, witches probably didn't have clean spell books..)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-b2W4C3i0FRk/Tnkq-dZDeYI/AAAAAAAAAQQ/_mEUqYlB-C8/s1600/IMG_1023.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-b2W4C3i0FRk/Tnkq-dZDeYI/AAAAAAAAAQQ/_mEUqYlB-C8/s400/IMG_1023.jpg" width="298" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">As you can see, I didn't clean off every stringy hot glue piece. I was going to, but then my younger brother told me that it looks like spider webs, and I was like "oh, heck yes."</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AnKd7F9vTH8/TnksYy-IDNI/AAAAAAAAAQU/A7DNk9s9G3c/s1600/books1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AnKd7F9vTH8/TnksYy-IDNI/AAAAAAAAAQU/A7DNk9s9G3c/s400/books1.jpg" width="298" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And there you go. Spooky Books a la Get Craftlicious.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aj8ymqtZif0/TnksrKq9-uI/AAAAAAAAAQY/0AwtYy-8HEw/s1600/books3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="393" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aj8ymqtZif0/TnksrKq9-uI/AAAAAAAAAQY/0AwtYy-8HEw/s400/books3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Don't you love those apothecary jars?!! I mean, they're in desperate need of some candy corns and mini reese's, but they're pretty dang awesome. All I did was print off some creepy images from Janet Hopkins' Happy Haunting Printable kit, which you can purchase <a href="http://janethopkins.typepad.com/its_all_in_the_details/2011/09/halloween-projects-completecheck.html"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f1c232;">here</span></a>.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I simply taped mine onto the jars because I don't use those for just Halloween, but if you want to make it more permanent, you could just mod podge it on there.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

For reals, it's freakin' awesome... and super trendy. Here are a few examples of some ombrè sweetness and a tutorial!<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4AGdPHr_pqA/TnGVelyiSiI/AAAAAAAAAPc/RRyVxERs3Qg/s1600/zoe-saldana-2010-oscars-red-carpet-05.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4AGdPHr_pqA/TnGVelyiSiI/AAAAAAAAAPc/RRyVxERs3Qg/s400/zoe-saldana-2010-oscars-red-carpet-05.jpg" width="170" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Ombrè dress that Zoe Saldana wore to the 2010 Oscars</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Basically, ombrè rocks my socks. So, I decided to dye some fabric ombrè style, for yet another throw pillow. I think it's safe to say I have a slight obsession with throw pillows... just putting that out there.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Disclaimer: My Plan A for this project was crap... so I had to go on to Plan B. The only good part about Plan A is that I learned from my mistakes. It's kinda like The Godfather... the second one is way better, but you can't appreciate it unless you've seen the original. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Alright, here was Plan A. So I thought it would be super easy. I would buy my fabric dye, and place the first quarter of fabric in the solution for about 15 minutes. Then the second quarter for another 15 minutes, then so on and so forth. I figured the bottom part would have a deeper color once I washed it out. Nope, didn't happen! First off, I bought this crap:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jf-fgvrrlzw/TnGZVBSKSVI/AAAAAAAAAPg/R_KHL1gljvs/s1600/IMG_0958.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jf-fgvrrlzw/TnGZVBSKSVI/AAAAAAAAAPg/R_KHL1gljvs/s320/IMG_0958.jpg" width="239" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I don't like to rag on products I don't love, but this stuff is honestly the worst. I'm only telling you because I don't want anyone to make the same mistake of buying it. Basically it didn't even work... my fabric ended up all being the same shade of yellow. My friend Hillary from <a href="http://www.itsprettymagical.blogspot.com/"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f1c232;">it's pretty magical</span></a>, bought green dye, and it turned out to be a pukey blue color. </div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Y2uEph4PQX8/TnGZi15SrqI/AAAAAAAAAPk/Bp2Y8mLaakQ/s1600/IMG_0957.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Y2uEph4PQX8/TnGZi15SrqI/AAAAAAAAAPk/Bp2Y8mLaakQ/s320/IMG_0957.jpg" width="239" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Another reason this product sucks is because you have to heat it up on your stove, and it smells like a bad mix of fertilizer, plastic, and poison. This smell reeked through Hillary's house... I pretty much owe her like 5 cans of Febreze. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">On to Plan B! I ran to Michael's and grabbed Rit Brand Fabric dye. I didn't want to take any chances so I bought a darker shade of yellow (Golden Yellow), and Hillary bought Tangerine. I discovered that if you <b>get your fabric wet before you dip it in the dye</b>, it allows the color to bleed a little more, thus making it so you don't have solid lines. So, I got the fabric wet. dipped it in the original nasty solution for 15 minutes, then dipped it in golden yellow for 15 minutes, and then in Tangerine for 15 minutes. Rinsed and BOOM, I had ombrè fabric for and ombrè pillow!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-M4vv1YlAc5c/TnKCaiwPTmI/AAAAAAAAAPs/6gqvSlu8KX4/s1600/IMG_0963.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-M4vv1YlAc5c/TnKCaiwPTmI/AAAAAAAAAPs/6gqvSlu8KX4/s320/IMG_0963.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Although I was pretty ticked the first dye didn't work and I had to go to the store and get more, it was still pretty cheap. The dye is only like 2 bucks a box, and since Hillary and I split the cost of fabric it probably only cost me about $12 for 2 pillows. Not too bad, eh?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NqKF81Q6F7o/TnKDxFhuOaI/AAAAAAAAAPw/rLm6gYs5xPQ/s1600/IMG_0969.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NqKF81Q6F7o/TnKDxFhuOaI/AAAAAAAAAPw/rLm6gYs5xPQ/s400/IMG_0969.jpg" width="298" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-u-gn050_910/TnKD9c7hRHI/AAAAAAAAAP0/ViXGAkOXBRU/s1600/IMG_0964.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-u-gn050_910/TnKD9c7hRHI/AAAAAAAAAP0/ViXGAkOXBRU/s400/IMG_0964.jpg" width="298" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Do you guys love ombrè or what?!!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Are there any recent trends that you just can't get enough of?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">P.S. Are you stoked for Halloween?!!! I am... and I have some pretty friggin sweet Halloween projects coming up soon! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Like so awesome that I thought I was the bomb-diggity. Alas, I am not. I was in the mind set that I could tackle any project and have it be a success. Well let me tell you, I have attacked two pretty awesome projects and they ended up being... not awesome. In fact, they were complete failures. Until I turned my frown upside down and got creative!<br />
<br />
My original project was to make a maxi dress. Yep, this was the most embarassing one of all. So I was at Jo-Ann's with my 40% off coupon, and picked up some friggin sweet polyester/rayon stretchy t-shirt fabric for like $16. I had this awesome idea for a maxi dress, and as the project continued, it looked like CRAP. Seriously, I tried it on in front of my husband, and was literally embarassed. Which is saying something, because I've done some pretty stupid stuff in front of him! Anyway, I ended up tearing apart the entire thing and made a vest out of it... Here it is!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hAxzX2X1T0k/TnGAHFDLETI/AAAAAAAAANc/P4h5DZcozSk/s1600/IMG_1005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hAxzX2X1T0k/TnGAHFDLETI/AAAAAAAAANc/P4h5DZcozSk/s400/IMG_1005.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lH-CRlyOsZY/TnGAK3YDl3I/AAAAAAAAANg/zRlRv4VV8r8/s1600/IMG_1006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lH-CRlyOsZY/TnGAK3YDl3I/AAAAAAAAANg/zRlRv4VV8r8/s400/IMG_1006.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So I looked online for any instructions on how to make a DIY scarf vest, and it pulled up all these crazy tutorials with angles, and cutting, and surgers... not exactly my cup of tea. I need something simple and something fast. Soooo, I basically modified one tutorial I found, and it's SUPER easy!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">All you do is get yourself ( roughly) <b>one square yard of stretchy fabric</b>. Mine was a poly rayon blend.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Okay, take your square and <b>fold it in half</b>. Next you are going to cut slits for your arms. Along the folded side, <b>measure about 6 inches in, and then 6 inches down.</b> This will be where you start the top of the slit. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">(If you have broader shoulders, you can bring it out a little further. I am rather narrow, so I only did about 5 inches. )</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Now, you are going to <b>make a vertical cut about 6-7 inches.</b> Unfold it, and BOOM, you're done. You have a totally sweet scarf vest!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here's what to do if you want to go the extra mile and make a tie for it. All you do is try on your vest and <b>find where on your waist you'd like the belt to sit</b>. Fold it in half again, and <b>measure in about 9 inches </b>from where you've marked it. <b>Cut two 2 inch vertical slits</b>, or wider if you already have a waist belt you'd like to use. If not, just take a long strip of fabric and slide it though your belt loops!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy right?! I love it when I can take a crap project and either salvage it or make it something completely different. Isn't it the pits when you just completely fail? Have you ever had a project that you thought was going to be dreamy and ended up being awful? Were you able to redeem it and make it awesome?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here is a sneak peek of me trying to dye some fabric ombré style! Full tutorial coming soon!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nd5HJLzCWaI/TnGJ5ih2FgI/AAAAAAAAAOs/L0NDsn0BUBY/s1600/IMG_0959.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nd5HJLzCWaI/TnGJ5ih2FgI/AAAAAAAAAOs/L0NDsn0BUBY/s320/IMG_0959.jpg" width="239" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

I just had one of the most fun weekends of my crafting life!!! I had the amazing opprotunity to attend Creative Escape 2011 with one of my BFFF's <a href="http://www.itsprettymagical.blogspot.com/" style="color: #f1c232;">Hillary</a>! If you don't know what Creative Escape is, it's a conference where you are able to attend different classes everyday, and make awesome scrapbook projects! It's idea was pitched 6 years ago to Doug Jones the owner of <a href="http://bazzillbasics.com/" style="color: #f1c232;">Bazzill Basics Paper</a>, by scrapbooker <a href="http://www.heidiswapp.com/" style="color: #f1c232;">Heidi Swapp</a>. (Just wanna say that I <i>personally</i> know Heidi... used to babysit her kids and everything.) Anyway, my mother has attended Creative Escape a few times and I always wondered why she was gone for 3 days, and then came back with crap loads of scrapbooking stuff. Well now I know... because it's freaking AMAZING!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WawQVsKCtXg/Tlr-diHfHWI/AAAAAAAAALo/OW7sjzmBHmw/s1600/950108801-2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="187" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WawQVsKCtXg/Tlr-diHfHWI/AAAAAAAAALo/OW7sjzmBHmw/s400/950108801-2.png" width="400" /> </a> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">You would not believe how many smart and talented women attend and teach for this thing, and I was lucky enough to MEET them! Women fly in from all over the world to let their creative juices flow and be able to partake of the inspiration Creative Escape gives. The theme of this year's Escape was "Create to Remember." When Heidi gave the keynote speech last night, she explained that when we create something around a memory, it's far easier to remember. With scrapbooking, you are taking these moments and making them sparkly and decorative... we do this because they are WORTH remembering. I have felt SO empty! I'm sorry I haven't provided any updates either. I feel really really lame! <br />
<br />
Here's why:<br />
<br />
So the first weekend of August was actually our first vacation of the summer. The husband and I planned a trip up to the mountains with some friends for the weekend, so we headed up to Fossil Springs in Strawberry. The day we got there we hiked down to where the falls are. Well, there were a lot of people there, and by a lot of people, I mean a lot of drunk people. Anyway, my husband was standing on the edge of the huge pool, and underneath some cliffs. Some kids were having a little too much fun on the rope swing, and shook some rocks loose on the way down. Ben just so happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and took a boulder (the size of a couch pillow) to the head. He was carried up the trail, took an ambulance to the small neighboring town, and air-vacced to Scottsdale. He had emergency surgery to repair severe lacerations to his head, and we later found that 4 of his thoracic vertebrae had been fractured. We spent 3 sleepless nights in the hospital.<br />
It's amazing he wasn't killed or paralyzed, or has any damage at all to his brain. He is currently in a brace and will be for 2 more months. The staples in his head come out in a few days.<br />
<br />
That being said, I spent a lot of time in the hospital doing NOTHING! The only thing I have "crafted" was putting the pads on the plastic part of his brace correctly. However, I spent a lot of time blog hopping and wasting WAY too much time on Pinterest. Do you have a Pinterest account? If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up... it is so choice. (Ferris Bueller anyone?) Since being home, I've been working like crazy (since he can't) and putting all of my time and effort into making sure he's taken care of. Things are starting to wind down, so there will be new projects soon!<br />
<br />
Here are some cute ideas I came across while "pinnng" and blog hopping!<br />

My apologies for the delay. I've been pretty lazy this week.<br />
<br />
No DIYing or Craftliciousness today. Today was a poop day. So for this post I will be talking about Finding YOUR style. But first, I'm going to tell you why I had a poop day.<br />
<br />
Last night I planned my day with the best of intentions.<br />
<br />
<b>Expectations: </b><br />
Wake up extra early and look super cute <br />
The hubs and I were going to go look at houses this morning (because we're looking, yay!)<br />
grab some lunch<br />
then I would be off to do some thrifting!<br />
I had planned on finding something grand at Goodwill and making it awesome<br />
Then doing a full DIY post.<br />
<br />
<b>Reality:</b><br />
Woke up at 10AM because I felt sick all night and didn't fall asleep till around 3ish<br />
Took a shower only to find that I only had about a nickel size amount of shampoo left and no conditioner. Frizzy curly hair day.<br />
Looked at some houses and found one we really really want. Pretty much the only un-poopy thing today.<br />
Husband wanted gross food, so he dropped me off at Anthropologie while he picked it up. Anthro has a killer sale right now, but we don't get paid till later this week, so I couldn't get anything. =(<br />
Didn't eat any lunch, but headed off to Goodwill instead. Didn't. Find. Anything.<br />
Went to another Goodwill. Again, nothing.<br />
<i>Breann</i>, I said to myself, <i>think outside the box. There has to be SOMETHING good here.</i><br />
Nope, nothing. BUMMER.<br />
Got some Costa Vida to ease the pain and went home to watch a movie.<br />
Decided to watch Step Up 3, which by the way, was a compete waste of time.<br />
Started to blog hop and slowly began to feel like more of a failure.<br />
It was a POOP day. <br />
<br />
Then I realized, we all have poop days. I decided to get over it, and instead write a helpful post on finding your style instead. Boo-yah... Poop Day can suck it.<br />
<br />
<b>Please keep in mind when reading this, that I am no professional designer. I didn't go to school for Interior Design and only have my OWN experience. Everything I give advice on is based off of my own decorating successes and fails. </b><br />
<br />
I discovered most of my decorating fails took place because I didn't know what my own personal style was. I knew when things looked good and when they didn't, but I couldn't pin point what exactly I wanted my house to look like.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Color Palette: </b></span><br />
<br />
I think the best thing to start off with is determining a color palette. I have found, that the best combinations start with mostly neutral colors with pops of color.<br />
<br />
My faaaavorite color palette right now is whites and grays, popped with yellow and light blue. Here's an example:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cQZ4Agshhpc/Tjy2MTzYUzI/AAAAAAAAAJc/uA8D3A6GqNU/s1600/71084259_u96n84Yd_c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="341" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cQZ4Agshhpc/Tjy2MTzYUzI/AAAAAAAAAJc/uA8D3A6GqNU/s400/71084259_u96n84Yd_c.jpg" width="400" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I love these pops of color, but they're not too obnoxious. Very soft...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Some have a hard time determining a color palette.... I for one thought that black and red was awesome. Wrong! Black and red made everything look so dark! I started to add creams and beiges to that and it looked a million times better. If you aren't sure what colors you love... go with all neutrals! It'll give you a clean canvas, and as you play, you'll find colors that you love.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jKJomHmfXys/Tjy3khk0sHI/AAAAAAAAAJg/q2YbNC0cyTY/s1600/61939816_Rq7UgEKh_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jKJomHmfXys/Tjy3khk0sHI/AAAAAAAAAJg/q2YbNC0cyTY/s400/61939816_Rq7UgEKh_b.jpg" width="300" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Neutral walls and decor, but then popped with the orange chairs. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lLcotXTeITo/Tjy3xWE1bAI/AAAAAAAAAJk/WmbIP3JP2dY/s1600/80859219_8TyvDLJa_c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lLcotXTeITo/Tjy3xWE1bAI/AAAAAAAAAJk/WmbIP3JP2dY/s400/80859219_8TyvDLJa_c.jpg" width="302" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Neutral couch, walls, and rug, then popped with blue door and red pillow. dreamy.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b>Styling:</b></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: small;">Finding your style can be super hard and confusing! It's hard to determine whether or not you're classic, eclectic, vintage-y, or modern. What helped me decide how to style my home is starting with the center of my room. What's the center of the living room? Duh, the couch. What's the center of the bedroom? Duh, the bed. Pick out furniture that you love. Why? Because furniture is effing expensive, and you need to pick out pieces that are quality because they will last you a long time. When shopping, keep in mind pieces that will match your color palette. A black couch is not going to go well with light airy colors. And a white couch isn't going to match brown, red and gold tones.</span><b> </b></span>My husband and I went with a dark brown leather couch and a dark wood sleigh bed. We made it neutral, so that we could build off of it. After you've found your pieces, don't be afraid to PLAY. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Go to different stores and look for things that catch your eye. When you find a style you love, you'll be able to work off of your centerpieces and implement your color palette. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Pottery Barn has super classic style... their stuff is gonna look good for a long time!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tqOZrQIJlEs/Tjy6txRRVNI/AAAAAAAAAJs/Q81Vb-4uidA/s1600/img69.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="230" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tqOZrQIJlEs/Tjy6txRRVNI/AAAAAAAAAJs/Q81Vb-4uidA/s400/img69.jpg" width="400" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Anthropologie is super eclectic. Decorating eclectic-ly is going to ensure that you won't walk into everyone's house and see the same thing. Very fun!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5WQe4TXK8hE/Tjy7u4nF7hI/AAAAAAAAAJw/BL-PAmIOY4g/s1600/76300_lim_f2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5WQe4TXK8hE/Tjy7u4nF7hI/AAAAAAAAAJw/BL-PAmIOY4g/s400/76300_lim_f2.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Are you more of a vintage-y girl? Google local boutiques and antique stores in your area. If you're into DIY stuff like me, the vintage look is SO easy to pull off! All you need is some sand paper, and you can tie that look into almost anything! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jH0f4FwahLQ/Tjy80S5vrAI/AAAAAAAAAJ0/l9XmjqjMo9o/s1600/72329580_GeFA5niD_c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jH0f4FwahLQ/Tjy80S5vrAI/AAAAAAAAAJ0/l9XmjqjMo9o/s400/72329580_GeFA5niD_c.jpg" width="266" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Love the modern look? Think symmetry, and solid colors. Kind of like the Apple store. Very cool look... you'll feel super fancy.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6Da9-cprYUA/TjzCTQkiuwI/AAAAAAAAAJ4/bl-gd9MKgyo/s1600/4437355_hsVCWa94_c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6Da9-cprYUA/TjzCTQkiuwI/AAAAAAAAAJ4/bl-gd9MKgyo/s400/4437355_hsVCWa94_c.jpg" width="317" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Keep in mind, that you don't have to be just one style. I'd say I'm a good mix of classic and vintage. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Don't be afraid of accessories either. They can always be changed! I can't tell you how many frames I've re-painted, pillows I've re-covered, and walls I've re-decorated. Style is constantly changing, don't be reluctant to change with it. EMBRACE IT!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><b><span style="font-size: large;">Walls:</span></b></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><b><span style="font-size: large;"> </span></b><span style="font-size: small;">Having the right walls can either make or break a room. How many times have you been searching for a home, walked in, and seen a hideous color slapped on the walls? I think walls are VERY important.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: small;"> One thing I always remind people of is that having lighter colors on your walls will make a room appear BIGGER. I'm not saying that every wall needs to be painted white, but please don't paint them some hideous army green... I'm begging you.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: small;">Also, you can do more than just paint! There are so many options! Don't be afraid to explore textures!</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: small;">Here are some fun examples!</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_oeKqHXCk7M/TjIl6o2bMaI/AAAAAAAAAJI/YdTx4u4aGgg/s1600/IMG_0838.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_oeKqHXCk7M/TjIl6o2bMaI/AAAAAAAAAJI/YdTx4u4aGgg/s400/IMG_0838.JPG" width="400" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I discovered this little <a href="http://cottonandcurls.blogspot.com/" style="color: #f1c232;">blog</a><span style="color: #f1c232;"> </span>and it's a dream! It's called Cotton & Curls, and she takes old thrifted clothes and makes them AMAZING!!! Anyway, she inspired me to DIY some old crap clothes of mine into something wearable again. We start with the mini dress.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Have you seen these guys? </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jK728D4-HFI/TjIqE1XuddI/AAAAAAAAAJM/ic9yDskHQ_U/s1600/IMG_0826.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jK728D4-HFI/TjIqE1XuddI/AAAAAAAAAJM/ic9yDskHQ_U/s320/IMG_0826.jpg" width="239" /></a></div><br />
Super cute cotton mini dresses. I swear everyone and their Mom looks good in them, except for me. My problem? I'm a freaking Amazon and I'm so tall that the skirt part comes up right beneath my chesticles, making it waaay too short. Therefore, my freaky long chicken legs are exposed and my butt's about to fly out. NOT CUTE. I don't need to add that it makes me super uncomfortable. Anyway, it's been sitting in my closet for a while now, and I just can't bear to part with it. Unfortunately, the only way to wear it was with leggings, and let's be real, I live in Arizona. Not gonna happen. I needed to throw it away but I came up with a different plan, Muahahahaha!<br />
<br />
I decided to turn it into a skirt... it's super easy, and here's how!<br />
<br />
Step #1- cut the top off just below the armpits<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2gnUKbLMRFk/TjIrkwJvLkI/AAAAAAAAAJQ/VwBeP78HbQ8/s1600/IMG_0827.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2gnUKbLMRFk/TjIrkwJvLkI/AAAAAAAAAJQ/VwBeP78HbQ8/s320/IMG_0827.jpg" width="239" /></a></div><br />
Step #2 - Decide how thick of a band you want at the top, turn inside-out and pin. Mine is about 3 inches. If the band is loose around your waist I recommend buying some elastic tape to sew inside. Mine was pretty form fitting so I didn't need to.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-I_u8LDKq5X0/TjIsIdBlfxI/AAAAAAAAAJU/xPl-zHja5-k/s1600/IMG_0832.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-I_u8LDKq5X0/TjIsIdBlfxI/AAAAAAAAAJU/xPl-zHja5-k/s320/IMG_0832.jpg" width="239" /></a></div><br />
Step #3- sew about a 1/2 inch from the top. I recommend using a zig-zag pattern if you're working with stretchy material... it just seems to hold better.<br />
<br />
Sorry no picture of this step... it's a little difficult to maneuver a camera whilst sewing. =) Also, I sewed with black thread, so it's basically impossible to see anyway.<br />
<br />
And, boo-yah! You've got a fancy schmancy Skirt of Awesomeness that is long, form fitting, and just looks dang good.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_UJOgAEpg8A/TjIs1iVNluI/AAAAAAAAAJY/0nY4wnH-YjU/s1600/awesomeskirt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_UJOgAEpg8A/TjIs1iVNluI/AAAAAAAAAJY/0nY4wnH-YjU/s400/awesomeskirt.jpg" width="400" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Photo Edit using: Instagram and Photoshop CS3</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> Do you love my modeling? I didn't want to strap on heels, so I decided to stand on my tippy-toes which made me fall backward. Snapped this little gem just in time!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div>Hope everyone is having an awesome week so far! School starts here pretty soon in AZ... I can just feel the anxiety of children, and the relief of parents! OH, and that cute ASU banner... yeah, you could have one of those sitting in your house. Enter the giveaway and it just might be yours. Seriously, go enter... so worth it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">P.S. I'm looking to get a new sewing machine... the one I'm using is stolen from my Mother and I'm pretty sure it might be older than me. Any suggestions for a good one, on the cheaper side? I'm trying to keep the budget around $200... Let me know you Craftlicious ladies!</div>Get Craftlicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14042786887759505203noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3237359896128751834.post-84092132663919413412011-07-25T21:21:00.000-07:002011-07-25T21:21:03.186-07:00Blog Award?!!!<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Yeah, I got a blog award. It's pretty crazy. Who would of thought little ol' Breann from little ol' Get Craftlicious could get an award? I can't, but that's probably because the only thing I've ever won is a leg wrestling match with my younger brother when I was 10. Anyway, I feel very special right now! Like I said, (almost) everything.</span></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />

</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">6. I have a favorite movie. I think this is special because hardly anyone can think of a movie that's #1 on their list. Mine is Meet Joe Black. It's a very long movie and is in general very slow, a good lazy day movie. However, it has a beautiful story and some of the most incredible writing. Plus it's got Sir Anthony Hopkins and BRAD PITT! What more could you ask for?</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

P.S. So I added a playlist. I used get annoyed with playlists on blogs until I decided one day to just listen to them. Turns out you can learn a lot about a person from the music they listen to. So I hope you enjoy my playlist... I think I have pretty great taste in music, but I'm biased.Get Craftlicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14042786887759505203noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3237359896128751834.post-40727117988087580142011-07-19T17:12:00.000-07:002011-07-19T17:13:50.970-07:00LightnessDid you know that using a lighter color palette will make a room appear bigger? It's totally true... that's why I got a new duvet cover! My husband FINALLY let me get a white one on the condition that I keep it extra clean. I'm so excited! AND, I'm getting closer to finishing the wall above my bed!<br />

<br />
Last but not least, I came upon further Craftlicious inspiration whilst watching one of my very favorite movies of all time 500 Days of Summer. Have you seen 500 Days of Summer?!! If you haven't, you need to get yourself to the nearest Target and buy it. That's right, BUY IT... don't rent. It's one of the best written films of all time. Anyway, there's a few scenes that take place in Summer's (played Zooey Deschanel) apartment and I fell in love with her white and blue wallpaper.<br />

As previously mentioned, I am no sewer. In fact, I'm a terrible seamstress. So don't judge me, okay?!!<br />
I really didn't know what I was doing so I was looking around for some ideas and I kept staring at this envelope on my desk. Light bulb! I decided to sew it like an envelope... so that's what you need to keep thinking as you read this... envelope, envelope, envelope. (Envelope is a weird word...) <br />
<br />
Here's what I did:<br />
<br />
Step #1- take your pillow form and wrap your fabric around the entire thing, with a fold going about half way down the width. Make sure you have enough room on the sides to sew down and fit your pillow.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nBC__KRQXc0/TiOrr_iKV5I/AAAAAAAAAHs/mbpd0zsu-xU/s1600/IMG_0743.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nBC__KRQXc0/TiOrr_iKV5I/AAAAAAAAAHs/mbpd0zsu-xU/s400/IMG_0743.jpg" width="298" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Step #2 - Fold your fabric inside out and sew about 1 inch in on the open ends... leave your fold alone for now.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IvzKWRVm1cA/TiOsaCyr-GI/AAAAAAAAAHw/_SgeaE9LIPw/s1600/IMG_0744.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IvzKWRVm1cA/TiOsaCyr-GI/AAAAAAAAAHw/_SgeaE9LIPw/s400/IMG_0744.jpg" width="298" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TizA8bVVX1s/TiOslRX7E-I/AAAAAAAAAH0/9ZuxhCmIVWg/s1600/IMG_0745.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TizA8bVVX1s/TiOslRX7E-I/AAAAAAAAAH0/9ZuxhCmIVWg/s400/IMG_0745.jpg" width="298" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Step #3- You can either leave your fold as is, or cut it to however you like. I decided to cut angles into mine... when you're finished sew the edges down, again, about 1 inch.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RtAmHfsT2lw/TiOtT1_Ti2I/AAAAAAAAAH4/A_oLyBYDkAE/s1600/IMG_0746.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RtAmHfsT2lw/TiOtT1_Ti2I/AAAAAAAAAH4/A_oLyBYDkAE/s400/IMG_0746.jpg" width="298" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Step #4- you can sew a button onto it to hold the flap down if you want. I didn't have any buttons on hand so I just tuck it in. Stuff it with your pillow and voila! You're done! =)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cdk0fzb9qE8/TiOttYIhM5I/AAAAAAAAAH8/6AfTFLaFRSE/s1600/IMG_0747.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cdk0fzb9qE8/TiOttYIhM5I/AAAAAAAAAH8/6AfTFLaFRSE/s400/IMG_0747.jpg" width="298" /></a></div><br />

Lately, I've been dragging around my extremely heavy (albeit gorgeous) leather bag. I have to have a big bag to carry all my crap. My husband seriously calls it my "luggage". Anyway, I discovered Flipped Bird bags. They're super comfy totes and they're freaking cute. There is an etsy site if you wish to view. Here is an example of one of the bags:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NwfOMXFv15M/ThUj6QUll5I/AAAAAAAAAG8/XEIKc47bUNo/s1600/il_570xN.249836169.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NwfOMXFv15M/ThUj6QUll5I/AAAAAAAAAG8/XEIKc47bUNo/s320/il_570xN.249836169.jpg" width="212" /></a></div><br />
Cute, huh?!!! What's awesome about them is they're also reversible! It's like 2 bags in one! My only problem is I'M CHEAP! These suckers cost $48+shipping. No way, Jose. So as I was browsing around Jo-Ann's fabrics, I saw that their outdoor canvas fabric was 60% off! Holy freak! I grabbed 4 yards and went to work! Here's the tutorial on how to make your own reversible tote!<br />
<br />
Disclaimer: If you are a sewing genius, and like doing things in a precise manner, I suggest you don't read this haha! I made it up as I went along, so you may be offended by my unorthodox methods. =) Also, I apologize for the pictures not being top notch. Hopefully the next iPhone will have a better camera on it... or maybe I'll get a real camera.<br />
<br />
#1- Grab 2 of your favorite fabrics. Make sure they're sturdy enough to hold all your crap. I chose outdoor canvas... to soften it up I suggest washing it with some fabric softener AFTER you've finished making it. Decide how big you want yours. The size of the fabric I cut was a 17 in. x 12 in. rectangle. You'll cut 2 rectangles from both fabrics (totaling 4 rectangles, duh!).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-imvHnyYjtNI/ThUn52k-dII/AAAAAAAAAHA/Bl-uPTpMlAc/s1600/IMG_0693.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-imvHnyYjtNI/ThUn52k-dII/AAAAAAAAAHA/Bl-uPTpMlAc/s320/IMG_0693.jpg" width="239" /></a></div> Yes, I'm ghetto and used a piece of cardboard as my "stencil". Yes, that is a hole in my leggings.<br />
<br />
#2- place the two rectangles of the same fabric with the outside facing each other. Sew along 3 ends, about an inch from the edge... I decided to curve the corners slightly when sewing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BxcmyAEz0AQ/ThUot-_thNI/AAAAAAAAAHE/jL-pD98VOao/s1600/IMG_0694.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BxcmyAEz0AQ/ThUot-_thNI/AAAAAAAAAHE/jL-pD98VOao/s320/IMG_0694.jpg" width="239" /></a></div><br />
#3- Pull one bag (the outside one) inside out and pin the edges about an inch inside of the bag. Leave your inside bag outside in, and pin the edges about an inch outside of the bag. (So pretty much the opposite of each other... sorry if this is confusing!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-icLyjpSuS-o/ThUpepNeiiI/AAAAAAAAAHI/hcRrFsFbN_A/s1600/IMG_0695.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-icLyjpSuS-o/ThUpepNeiiI/AAAAAAAAAHI/hcRrFsFbN_A/s320/IMG_0695.jpg" width="239" /></a></div><br />
#4- Place your inside bag into your outside bag.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GNMtqpr9Mu8/ThUp_wrybZI/AAAAAAAAAHM/Z9Op3d9rP_s/s1600/IMG_0700.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GNMtqpr9Mu8/ThUp_wrybZI/AAAAAAAAAHM/Z9Op3d9rP_s/s320/IMG_0700.jpg" width="239" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ccvxj7ahR7I/ThUqITZdwaI/AAAAAAAAAHQ/Jp7zWzr8unk/s1600/IMG_0701.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ccvxj7ahR7I/ThUqITZdwaI/AAAAAAAAAHQ/Jp7zWzr8unk/s320/IMG_0701.jpg" width="239" /></a></div><br />
On to the Strap!<br />
<br />
#5- Measure out a comfortable length for your strap. I'm super tall so mine is about 34 inches long. Cut each fabric the length you want and about 4.5 - 5 inches wide. Place both fabrics with the outsides facing each other, and sew along the lengths about an inch from the edges. Then pull the inside out.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Nn6v46jDoBE/ThUry3JW5ZI/AAAAAAAAAHU/Vb_I-bjQZs4/s1600/IMG_0696.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Nn6v46jDoBE/ThUry3JW5ZI/AAAAAAAAAHU/Vb_I-bjQZs4/s320/IMG_0696.jpg" width="239" /></a></div><br />
#6- After you've pulled the inside out, sew along the length of the edges again to flatten your strap.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r3oh1m6d_Bw/ThUsOlIRAmI/AAAAAAAAAHY/gBlKAZ_bR70/s1600/IMG_0698.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r3oh1m6d_Bw/ThUsOlIRAmI/AAAAAAAAAHY/gBlKAZ_bR70/s320/IMG_0698.jpg" width="239" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hQRGBdDsbPM/ThUsWzDNUnI/AAAAAAAAAHc/VTZFdnaDOQE/s1600/IMG_0699.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hQRGBdDsbPM/ThUsWzDNUnI/AAAAAAAAAHc/VTZFdnaDOQE/s320/IMG_0699.jpg" width="239" /></a></div><br />
#7- Place your strap in between the two bags and sew around the top. You will be sewing over your pins so go a little bit slowly so you don't break anything =)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CRwvU149Rs4/ThUs1PBNixI/AAAAAAAAAHg/4gsIIFKNmyg/s1600/IMG_0702.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CRwvU149Rs4/ThUs1PBNixI/AAAAAAAAAHg/4gsIIFKNmyg/s320/IMG_0702.jpg" width="239" /></a></div><br />
#8- Pull your pins out and TA DAAAH!!! You've got yourself and amazing reversible tote! Boo-yah!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ihagNOWwoug/ThUtJHSEcfI/AAAAAAAAAHk/brxrcApZREw/s1600/IMG_0716.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ihagNOWwoug/ThUtJHSEcfI/AAAAAAAAAHk/brxrcApZREw/s320/IMG_0716.jpg" width="239" /></a></div><br />
I decided to stitch a little square of burlap on the outside for some character. Please don't pay attention to the messy bathroom, dirty closet mirror, or silly Nigel dog. =)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aZbQAOmCliI/ThUtQIiMKaI/AAAAAAAAAHo/yPcEpUpbdps/s1600/IMG_0718.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aZbQAOmCliI/ThUtQIiMKaI/AAAAAAAAAHo/yPcEpUpbdps/s320/IMG_0718.jpg" width="239" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Holy crap, I love my tote. It's sooo comfy and it holds a ton!<br />
<br />
Supplies:<br />
<ul><li>2 yards of two seperate fabrics (I suggest using outdoor canvas) totaling 4 yards</li>
<li>lots of cotton thread</li>
<li style="text-align: left;"> additional fabric or beads to spice it up</li>
</ul>I got my fabric at Jo-Ann's for 60% off so that cost about $20 plus a big spool of cotton thread was about $3.<br />
<br />
<b>Total Cost: $23</b> <br />
<br />
<br />
Hope everyone had a great 4th of July!<br />
It's been so hot here in AZ I've been finding myself indoors a lot with not a lot of stuff to do. What do you do to stay entertained and cool in the summertime?<br />

It's time for a Get Craftlicious giveaway! So you know what I've noticed? I have over 1,000 page views right now. Yup! A lot of people rig their page views to read more than they actually have, but mine isn't a faker. I, for reals, as of right now, have had 1,154 page views. Slight problem though... I want more followers! Call me crazy but I just do. There's only 13 of you, and I want a big family of Craftlicious lovers.<br />
So here's what's going to go down. You're going to <b>contact a friend, and tell them to be a follower</b>. You will then <b>leave me a comment below telling me why I'm awesome, leaving yours and your friends name, and your e-mail address. </b>When I have reached 26 followers, I will do a random drawing and you and your BFF will win a prize! Why 26 followers, you ask? Because that is at least one friend for each of you to contact. If you just so happen to have more than one friend that follows, pick your favorite one! Either way, this prize is SUPER cute and you should get excited. ALSO, I will ship it to you for FREEE! Even if you live in England, I will send it to you because I love my followers so much.<br />

Only problem is I was doing it in a rush because I wanted to clean up and finish laundry before the husband got home from work, so I totally didn't take tutorial pics! I know, I'm an idiot. HOWEVER, I will write out the steps for you. It's super easy to make, so I'm sure you'll get it in a jiff.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5QnbYl8kwMM/TgLJycxEoLI/AAAAAAAAAFg/cIoK0L2jels/s1600/IMG_0664.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5QnbYl8kwMM/TgLJycxEoLI/AAAAAAAAAFg/cIoK0L2jels/s400/IMG_0664.jpg" width="298" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<b>Supplies needed:</b><br />
<ul><li>throw pillow without the case</li>
<li>2 square dinner napkins of your choice</li>
<li>needle and thread or sewing machine</li>
<li>assorted ribbon</li>
</ul><b>First!</b> Take your two dinner napkins and place the sides you want facing each other.<br />
<b>Next! </b>Sew along 3 sides of the napkins leaving the fourth one open.<br />
<b>Then!</b> Flip it inside out and put your pillow inside<br />
<b>Now!</b> Cut holes large enough for your ribbon down the fourth side.<br />
<b>Last!</b> Pull your cute ribbon through the holes and tie in knots. Voila! You have a freaking cute pillow!<br />

Did I mention I'm sorry?Well friends, it's been almost a solid 2 1/2 weeks since I've updated you. All I have to say is I'm soooooo sorry! I only have a few excuses.<br />
<br />
<b>Excuse #1:</b> On the 11th my very favorite brother-in-law got married, so pretty much the entire week was spent running around, staying up late and partying. It was a blast but it took some time to recuperate.<br />
<br />
<b>Excuse #2:</b> Last week I worked A LOT of hours and hardly had time to do anything craftlicious. It was so sad!<br />
<br />
<b>Excuse #3: </b>Then this last weekend, the husband and I celebrated our One Year Anniversary! Boo yah! He got us 2 nights at a sweet hotel in Scottsdale and we had a blast just hanging around, eating, and laying by the pool!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hMChVs6J6fA/TgLCxwo-GSI/AAAAAAAAAFM/_8-jgM1dRKY/s1600/bensleeping.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="260" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hMChVs6J6fA/TgLCxwo-GSI/AAAAAAAAAFM/_8-jgM1dRKY/s400/bensleeping.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"> So as I was laying out, Ben said he just wanted to go relax in the room. I came in to find this. He completely passed out taking up the entire king sized bed.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-N1XMH_ULwdc/TgLDTcGTq_I/AAAAAAAAAFQ/U42BuwSnRSk/s1600/IMG_0661.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-N1XMH_ULwdc/TgLDTcGTq_I/AAAAAAAAAFQ/U42BuwSnRSk/s400/IMG_0661.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">And this is what happened to me. Word to the wise: When laying out in Arizona, don't read a good book. You'll completely lose track of time and burn the crap out of yourself.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><b><br />
</b></div><b>Excuse #4:</b> On top of all of that, I have been working on my dad's farm selling CORN on my days off. Side note: being outside today, at 12 o' clock, in 107 degree heat seriously made me question not only why I live in Arizona, but my sanity.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UkAZ8kf-S10/TgLDtX5QPSI/AAAAAAAAAFU/S_cP2XCjitc/s1600/IMG_0666.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UkAZ8kf-S10/TgLDtX5QPSI/AAAAAAAAAFU/S_cP2XCjitc/s400/IMG_0666.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"> My exact thoughts at this moment were: "It's so freaking hot. And I'm dirty... and sweaty. Someone come buy some freaking corn so I can go home." </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pmeMMoyX4ws/TgLEGrP8ZmI/AAAAAAAAAFY/7dWKKXUACjc/s1600/IMG_0671.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pmeMMoyX4ws/TgLEGrP8ZmI/AAAAAAAAAFY/7dWKKXUACjc/s400/IMG_0671.jpg" width="298" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Sweet Corn!!!!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

I'm on Pinterest now, too. However, Pinterest is freaking awesome!!! It's basically a place where you can have virtual pinboards, and when you find something you love online, you pin it! People can follow you and see what you've pinned and vice versa. I've been on it for the past 2 days... very addicting.<br />
<br />

So, Pinterest is an amazing tool and everyone should get an account! I know you'll love it!Get Craftlicioushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14042786887759505203noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3237359896128751834.post-58578394245737442632011-06-02T22:31:00.000-07:002011-06-22T22:33:00.437-07:00twitter...Well, it's official... I got a Twitter account. I know, Twitter is old news BUT I'm super lame and I am just barely getting one.<br />
As of right now I have 3 followers, 2 of which I don't even know and I think they might be creepers. I follow a couple of crafty bloggers and Conan O'Brien... he makes me laugh. Anyway, you should follow me! There will be daily posts of crafty crap and things I draw inspiration from!<br />
<br />
You can find me by searching for Breann Bowman or Get Craftlicious... I think my tweet name thingy is @getcraftlicious<br />
<br />
I'm still new to it, so bear with me as I figure it out!<br />

I told you it was a humongous bag! P.S. Do you love Get Craftlicious' new look?! I sure do, It's much more clean AND some of my fav colors! A big thank you goes to Andrea Wanlass from Anlyn Photography for her help with Photoshop and taking a few of the photos in this post.<br />
<br />
Here are some before shots:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-T2qhlDj9TA8/TeLZLbViRqI/AAAAAAAAADs/cpN44mtQMjc/s1600/IMG_0379.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-T2qhlDj9TA8/TeLZLbViRqI/AAAAAAAAADs/cpN44mtQMjc/s320/IMG_0379.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-e6LjwvMcMCk/TeLZNt9aJGI/AAAAAAAAADw/Fv9MRRIG8Hg/s1600/1002161_FNTCLFM_A_400.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-e6LjwvMcMCk/TeLZNt9aJGI/AAAAAAAAADw/Fv9MRRIG8Hg/s320/1002161_FNTCLFM_A_400.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So this bottom picture isn't the exact collage frame I had... but it's pretty close. I am not a fan of collage frames, so I needed to spice it up.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Items needed : Old frames that you hate (or something from Goodwill)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"> Spray Paint</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"> Sandpaper</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"> Scrapbook paper</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5wtRVRBtWeE/TeLcG5dP4VI/AAAAAAAAAEM/-87dWbvND9c/s1600/IMG_0615.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5wtRVRBtWeE/TeLcG5dP4VI/AAAAAAAAAEM/-87dWbvND9c/s400/IMG_0615.jpg" width="298" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I'm normally a Krylon girl, but Home Depot didn't have the color I was looking for. I opted for Rust-oleum. It's a pretty great alternative. =)</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kfVL89V4WmY/TeLcOOY-5TI/AAAAAAAAAEQ/Vz0WROWckiA/s1600/IMG_0617.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kfVL89V4WmY/TeLcOOY-5TI/AAAAAAAAAEQ/Vz0WROWckiA/s400/IMG_0617.jpg" width="298" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">After!! :</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZV_gAAm73vs/TeLZpNm1myI/AAAAAAAAAD0/2swoJVhZz3w/s1600/IMG_0620.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZV_gAAm73vs/TeLZpNm1myI/AAAAAAAAAD0/2swoJVhZz3w/s640/IMG_0620.jpg" width="476" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Spray painted both, the white one with Krylon in Satin white the blue is Rust-oleum in Aqua.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--lAx3CfpTxw/TeLZuXYC5oI/AAAAAAAAAD4/yrhcNMX4No4/s1600/IMG_0624.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--lAx3CfpTxw/TeLZuXYC5oI/AAAAAAAAAD4/yrhcNMX4No4/s640/IMG_0624.jpg" width="478" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I didn't have an 8x10" picture to put in here, and then it hit me... throw in some scrapbook paper! I love the way they both turned out.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Now for my favorite... This frame turned out better than I could have hoped. Photo credit : Anlyn Photography.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CbdK-4I2qms/TeLaoFNc-0I/AAAAAAAAAD8/exmVzMAmDo8/s1600/IMG_0003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="438" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CbdK-4I2qms/TeLaoFNc-0I/AAAAAAAAAD8/exmVzMAmDo8/s640/IMG_0003.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Not cute... at all. When I was first married, I loved it because it's the Tuscan style that I thought was amazing. Well, it's not. So, I grabbed some spray paint again... I'm totally in love with this aqua blue color right now.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sT7PgAq0LzE/TeLbEk0cZ7I/AAAAAAAAAEA/AbJZ7cVGq-E/s1600/IMG_0011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sT7PgAq0LzE/TeLbEk0cZ7I/AAAAAAAAAEA/AbJZ7cVGq-E/s640/IMG_0011.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Such a pretty color... especially for summer. After it was spray painted, I was just going to leave it for a glossy finish, but my antique-y side got the best of me. I grabbed a piece of sandpaper and went to town!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fVMgWUQUWyQ/TeLbiGmSjQI/AAAAAAAAAEE/bqRco4DqKaE/s1600/IMG_0016.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fVMgWUQUWyQ/TeLbiGmSjQI/AAAAAAAAAEE/bqRco4DqKaE/s640/IMG_0016.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Didn't they turn out great?!! Again, a big thank you to Andrea Wanlass with Anlyn Photography. Therefore, I declare that in between big projects, there will be several mini projects for your viewing. You're welcome.<br />
<br />
Here she is:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3Mzdko8alig/Td7ZtjUzv1I/AAAAAAAAADU/ledJ_vb7QJw/s1600/IMG_0603.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3Mzdko8alig/Td7ZtjUzv1I/AAAAAAAAADU/ledJ_vb7QJw/s640/IMG_0603.jpg" width="478" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So I have an entire LARGE gift bag filled with <b>hideous</b> frames from my wedding. If those who gave the gift provided a gift receipt, they would have been returned the next day. This bag has been sitting for almost a year, and instead of heinously re-gifting them, they will be my mini-projects! This one used to say something like "life is not measured in breaths we take but by moments"... pretty cheesy, and I don't really like very many things with quotes on them. So I grabbed my can of Krylon in Satin white, and spray painted her! Flowers were leftover from my T-Shirt project, and hot glued on (Flower Tutorial in previous post). Took me about 10 minutes, including drying time. (Note: it only dried that fast because the high today is about 96 degrees and I put it out in the sun. Man, I love AZ!)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Cost was free because I had everything on hand. If I had to guess, a can of spray paint is about $5, bag of glue sticks are like $1, and a square of felt is like, 40 cents at Michael's. Flower petals made from an old t-shirt.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">P.S. Don't you love my potpourri bowl? Found it in the bathroom decor section of Target for $10, and it came with a lager one as well. Home decor isn't always in that one special little section. You can find amazing things in the kitchen, bathroom, and garden departments!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
